Many people confuse "regular" acne with fungal acne (also called Malassezia folliculitis). Some popular ingredients can be a trigger.

What is fungal acne?

• It is not actually true acne, but a yeast overgrowth (Malassezia) in the hair follicles.
• It looks like small, itchy bumps, often on the forehead, temples or chest/back.
• Aggravated by heat, sweating, and products containing certain oils or esters that “feed” the yeast.
